Independence is a Magical Power in a Woman

As a woman who's experienced her fair share of personal tragedy and not-so-hot relationships, I feel very strongly that a woman should be completely independent of her man.

I don't mean that you should never let a man do everything for you. Independence to me means being able to take care of my own needs, with or without a man.

Independence promotes self-worth and self-esteem. It also gives you the confidence to walk away from an unhappy or abusive relationship.

Strong, secure men are attracted to independent, confident, strong women. Only insecure men like women who are needy and dependent. And believe me, that's not the sort of man that you want in your life full time.

If you like being the "helpless" type, and waiting for your knight in shining armor to "rescue" you from your poor pitiful lonely life, you'd better get used to being the door mat when he trades you in for a young blonde model.

Here are four traits of independence that I believe every woman should have:

1. Physical Independence:

Codependent women fake illnesses to get attention. They act helpless. They lead you to believe they cannot pay their bills or do for themselves. They rely on the man to do these things for them.

Take responsibility for your own well-being. Don't be a burden to others. You set yourself up for hurt and abandonment.

2. Financial Independence:

Many women still feel like the man is to be the source of their income. That he is to provide security for her.

If you depend on a man financially, you'll always be at his mercy, willing to tolerate abuse or disrespectful behavior. No relationship should be based on your needs being met by a man, for it will surely fail.

Being financially independent enhances your own self-worth, and gives you the freedom to make better choices in relationships.

3. Emotional Independence:

If you act emotionally needy or clingy you'll attract insecure men.

Neediness will not only attract "Goobers", but also potential abusers. This can also drive away good men that are looking for independent women.

4. Spiritual Independence:

A good man wants to be with an independent-thinking woman, and not a woman who follows him around agreeing with everything he says.

Being an independent thinker means having the courage to stand by your beliefs, speak your mind, and to have your own opinions. This will make you less likely to attract a "control freak".

Independence is truly a magical power because it gives a woman freedom to make better choices and to enter a healthy, unique, independent relationship on her terms and no one else's.
