We had our first Mastermind Call on Navigating the Forum recently and it was amazing. My VA, Sharon Broughton, walked us through how to register, edit our profile, how to search for other members, how to post, how to reply to a post, etc. It was amazing. I talked about the reason for the mastermind forum and why everyone should participate. Everyone should be in there introducing themselves, asking questions, giving support, listing resources. We have the recording available a couple of places: Inside the forum, on the teleclass page, and on the forum login page on the website.

I will be doing lots of F*R*E*E teleclasses that will be entertaining and helpful to all of you. Every month, there will be a F*R*E*E MASTERMIND CALL with guests that I have invited to share their info and products with you. The calls will usually be the second Tuesday of every month at 7 pm Central (8 pm Eastern) unless I have to travel, which in that case there will be a change of date/time. If you cannot make the calls, I will post the audio (within 24 hours) on the Mastermind Forum under audio archives so you will have access to it.

Other teleclasses are scheduled on Tuesday or Thursdays and you will be notified of topics and times via email. The Mastermind Calls are the second Tuesday of every month.

Slow Down, Take a Breath, and Be Patient: Success is a Marathon, Not a Sprint!

The more I think about it, the more I realize that success, just like relationships, has a lot to do with being patient. Do you agree? Very few pivotal moments in history benefited more from quick action than when some level of patience occurred instead. I know that we aren't changing modern history here but your actions will have an impact on the non-fiction story that is your life. For that reason, patience also applies to you! We've all heard that patience is a virtue but what exactly does this mean?

The virtue of patience is a blend of some other traits that also determine success. I'd best describe patience as having elements of both focus and also tenacity or commitment. Why is patience so important? Perhaps some examples of patience will help:

1. Choosing not to say something really opinionated when discretion is probably the better choice

2. Allowing a business pursuit sufficient time to grow and develop

3. Not freaking out when you don't hear back from a client or colleague right away

4. Recognizing that a marketing/advertising campaign will probably not yield immediate results

5. Recognizing that success may not happen overnight!

I could probably have put dozens of things in that list. We've all had times in our life where, when looking back, we can say, ‘You know, I could have been more patient with _________.' Lack of patience is a natural thing and is also a great area to improve if we are to become more successful!

What I want you to do now is think of some things you've done that showed a lack of patience. Is it easy coming up with examples from your own life? For most people, it is pretty easy.

Even though patience resembles both focus and sticking with something, it's also affected by how we prioritize things. If you don't think something is really important, how patient are you going to be with it? Most people aren't very patient with things that they don't see as being very important. Imagine standing in the kitchen, impatiently waiting for the pot to boil so you can make pasta. We've all done that but why the impatience? Isn't the boiling water an important first step to cooking noodles?

What's happening in this example is that we are focused on enjoying the meal, looking past the steps that are involved in getting the pasta into a bowl. The exact same thing can happen when it comes to our success! Even though there's value that comes with setting good clear goals, sometimes we look past the here and now and want the future today! This is where patience ties in with focus. Proper focus is on the here and the now, not the future. It's OK to dream of a better future but when we place too much focus there, we tend to get impatient and place less value on the steps in between!
