Create and Sell Your Own Information Products

One of the most exciting ways to start an online business and begin to make money is to create and sell your own “information products”. These are books or audios that contain “information” that you are offering in exchange for money or contact information so that you can contact them to sell them something later on. Many people just starting out don’t even realize that they have knowledge that other people would be willing to pay for – and think of this – there may be an eBook in you that could make you rich!

You can always buy other people’s information products and put your name on them – yes, this is done all the time – but we will talk about that next time. But, you really should have your own products – that gives you control, positioning, greater margins, and pricing power. You may find that you will never be able to create enough products to fulfill all your clients and prospects needs!

Here are just a few ideas, see if one of them gets you thinking:

• You know a lot about exercise and nutrition and would teach others. Maybe you’ve had personal experience with recovery or living with an illness or medical condition;
• You could teach others to be an event planner. Most of us have thrown together a child’s birthday party or planned our own wedding;
• You may know how to organize personal and business spaces – do you KNOW how many of us need help with that?
• You know how to breed dogs, cats, horses or roses;
• You know how to teach people credit restoration or debt management;
• You’ve had years of experience tutoring children, raising children or just helping children find their way through school, college, summer camps or training programs;
• You know how to trim shots off a golf game or buy the perfect set of clubs OR get into the best course in town;
• You could teach others how to do crafts or hobbies – you don’t have to be Martha Stewart. Keep it simple.

The above list includes a few ideas – but the sky is the limit!

Take time to brainstorm your interests and talents and you’ll quickly discover that you know a lot about a particular topic. What is the one thing that all of your family and neighbors call on you for advice with? Maybe you just have a way with a yard sale or fundraiser?

When you figure it out – start writing that eBook!
